Limited Television Series

HILDEGARD is a premiere, global market, limited television series (in the vein of Game of Thrones, Borgias, The Vikings…) bringing to life the extraordinary true story of Hildegard von Bingen—a 12th-century Benedictine abbess, mystic, polymath, composer, healer, artist, and visionary whose work continues to resonate nearly a thousand years later. Born into a world that silenced women, Hildegard dared to speak the unspeakable, share her visions, and compose music that carried divine wisdom into the hearts of her time and beyond.

“I am a feather on the breath of God.”

HILDEGARD offers a story that is both ancient and radically current: a woman reclaiming her voice, her spiritual authority, and her creative power in a world that told her to be small.

Statement of Narrative

HILDEGARD is informed by extensive scholarship, primary historical sources, contemporary biographies, academic research, expert consultants, and our own research travels and reflections. At the same time, we acknowledge that history is layered, interpretive, and often incomplete — and that there are multiple perspectives on Hildegard von Bingen’s life, her inner world, and the meaning of her work.

For the purposes of compelling dramatic storytelling, we may introduce fictional or composite characters, scenes, and situations that represent emotional, spiritual, or cultural dimensions of Hildegard’s life and her era that were not fully documented in the historical record. These creative choices are intended to illuminate truth through narrative rather than claim absolute factual certainty.

While we cannot know every detail of Hildegard’s lived experience or the full complexity of the 12th century, we are deeply committed to honoring what is known of her life, her context, and her time. Our aim is to create a work that is historically grounded, intellectually responsible, and imaginatively alive — one that remains faithful to the spirit of Hildegard and the world in which she lived.
